Christian Education
Christian education happens in many forms and ways at Tirzah Presbyterian Church.
WE are committed to classes and programs that deepen our knowledge, understanding and
practice of our faith. We have a mid-week Bible study for adults as well as programs for
children at various times during the liturgical year. We have Sunday School at 10:00 every
Sunday morning for all ages.
Our lively pre-school class is taught by Mary Wooldridge and Sara Humphries.
These creative teachers have supplemented the lectionary based curriculum with additional
activities for our littlest members.
Our elementary school aged class is ably taught by Cynthia Harper. Cynthia also supplements
the curriculum and her consistent, long-standing commitment to this class has given these
children a wonderful mentor in the faith.
Our middle school class is taught by our pastor, Jill Duffield. After teaching confirmation
to this group she couldn’t leave them. This is a class of thoughtful, engaged and FUN young
people. The lesson is often followed by a quick round of basketball or dodge ball.
Our high school class continues to be guided by Margaret Flow. She is so dedicated to this
class that she has, on occasion, threatened to go wake up her students and bring them to
class! So far, she has not had to follow through on this threat.
Our adult class is taught by three very capable people: Karen Buseman, Grant Duffield,
and our seminary, Nadine Elsworth-Moran. The class involves the presentation of the lesson
and then much discussion and class participation.
